K&L Gates Volckrick has announced the addition of a new partner at the firm: Yoanna Stefanova, a corporate/M&A partner in the Luxembourg office.
Stefanova joins the firm from NautaDutilh. Her practice focuses on transactional M&A work mainly for private equity firms and alternative investment funds.
She also has extensive experience advising on the structuring of M&A transactions, ongoing operational matters, and corporate governance models and has led a number of complex cross-border transactions.
“Having a well-versed corporate/M&A partner on the ground is fundamental to the development of our office in Luxembourg, one of the most important European jurisdictions for investment funds and private equity,” said Dr. Thomas Lappe, co-leader of K&L Gates’s corporate practice in Germany. “Yoanna’s track record nicely complements our pan-European corporate offering.”
K&L Gates’s merger with Luxembourgish firm Volckrick & Associates last year gave the global firm its eighth office across Europe and its 46th worldwide, as part of a strategic growth trajectory that has included the hiring of more than 80 partners globally since January 2020.
Volckrick & Associates had more than a decade and a half of experience in the Luxembourg asset management, banking, and financial services industry. Its co-founder Mathieu Volckrick is managing partner of the merged firm; he is supported by counsel Jan Boeing and associate Adam Paschalidis.
“Our Luxembourg office is an important link for the firm’s offices and clients throughout Europe, as well as across our global platform. This initiative is another step in the firm’s client-centered growth focusing on key practices, industries and markets,” said K&L Gates’s global managing partner Jim Segerdahl.
Luxembourg offers significant opportunities for K&L Gates’s leading asset management and investment funds and private equity practices; the combination with Volckrick & Associates will allow the firm to further build its pan-European and global capabilities in a number of other practices.
