Mr. Lasalvia earned a bachelor’s in law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP) and holds separate postgraduate degrees in Administrative Law and Insurance and Reinsurance Law from PUC-SP and Escola Nacional de Seguros, respectively. After spending 12 years at Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados as a dispute resolution associate, in 2010 Mr. Lasalvia joined Clyde & Co to focus on aviation and insurance mandates. In 2013, Gustavo migrated to Tauil & Chequer and has worked shoulder-to-shoulder with Julio since. Mr. Lasalvia has a strong knowledge of issues related to litigation, aviation, insurance and reinsurance law.
Mr. Albino studied law as an undergraduate at Universidade de Lisboa and completed his postgraduate degree in English Commercial Law at London’s University of Law. He began his career at Portuguese firm, Neville de Rougemont & Asociados and later moved to Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, working in the firm’s London and São Paulo offices. In 2011, he joined HFW as an associate, making partner a mere two years later. Mr. Albino specializes in commercial litigation and arbitration, insurance and aviation cases.
In an official statement, Julio Costa said: “"I am thrilled to be joining a firm with such strong and longstanding ties to the aviation and insurance sectors. Being part of such a large and specialist global team will be hugely beneficial to my clients. We are also very excited about the opportunities for CAL, and have ambitious plans to grow and develop our practices to align with HFW's business."
With CAL on board, HFW strengthens its Latin American presence in two of the firm’s most important market sectors, aviation and insurance. The firm now has nearly 600 fee-earners, including 180 partners based in 19 offices across the world. The arrangement with CAL is due to formally launch this month after regulatory approval. Notably, this is the seventh international merger and cooperation agreement signed by HFW since January 2016, which shows its intention to keep expanding overseas.
