ECIJA appoints new partner in Costa Rica

Arturo has focused his career in dispute resolution and financial law for more than 25 years, including previous experience as a judge.

He launched the firm’s insolvency practice in Costa Rica, and has a long career as an arbitrator in commercial and construction matters. Additionally, he is president of the Competition Commission of the local chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce.

"Arturo's entry as partner was the logical step after having achieved a remarkable performance during the first year of his incorporation to the firm, not only in terms of billing and account attraction but especially in his adaptation to our business culture and internal leadership in the firm," Mauricio París, managing partner of ECIJA Costa Rica, stated.

"Since I joined the firm we had a clearly defined roadmap with the objective of joining as a partner. Even though I joined in the middle of the pandemic, we achieved extraordinary results thanks to the synergies with the team and clients," Arturo Guerrero said regarding his promotion to partner.

Arturo joined ECIJA in 2020 from Sáenz Asociados, where he was a partner from 2014-20, and prior to that he was a partner at his own firm, Guerrero Estudio Legal, and prior to that held the position of partner at AB&P Abogados.

He is a PhD candidate in arbitration at the Universidad Autónoma de Centro América, and he holds a master’s degree in corporate law from the Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional, and a JD in law from the Universidad Autónoma de Centro América, and he is fluent in English as well as his native Spanish.

ECIJA has a team of 25 lawyers in Costa Rica, with offices in San José and Guanacaste on the Pacific coast. Worldwide, the firm has around 1,000 attorneys, with 31 offices in 16 countries and a total of 176 partners. It is the sixth-largest law firm in the Spanish market by turnover.
