Camilo brings over 20 years of experience in international law, foreign trade, economic diplomacy, institutional structuring, and strategic dispute resolution in Latin America and the US to the role.
An international lawyer, former diplomat, and consultant specializing in trade and institutional strategy, Camilo’s career has seen him working on developing legal, economic, and strategic solutions for public entities, international organizations, and private sector stakeholders, combining regulatory expertise, risk analysis, and institutional development.
His appointment to the Center represents a commitment to modernizing, specializing, and internationalizing the region's dispute resolution mechanisms, leveraging his experience in international arenas and his understanding of global trade dynamics and his ability to build bridges between the business, institutional, and legal sectors.
He is a co-founder of Millán & Ayala (now MYA Strategies), a firm from which he has led projects related to market access, international regulatory compliance, risk management, and institutional strengthening for companies, trade associations, and international organizations.
In the public and financial sectors, he participated in the legal and strategic structuring of financial operations, public-private partnerships, and economic development projects with entities such as Bancóldex and Bancolombia. He also advised on processes related to international trade, regional integration, trade facilitation, and investment attraction at ProColombia.
In the diplomatic arena, he served at the Colombian embassies in Washington, DC, and Quito, where he participated in trade negotiations, economic integration matters, and bilateral relations management, strengthening his experience in international relations and institutional governance.
His profile combines legal experience, strategic vision and international dialogue, with a focus on strengthening the Center's capabilities, promoting new mechanisms and areas of specialization, driving technological modernization processes and consolidating Cali's position as a competitive setting for the resolution of national and international disputes.
