In early February, Brazilian healthtech Alice - which was born amidst the Covid-19 pandemic - raised $33.3 million in a new investment round led by American fund ThornTree Capital Partners

Alice was launched in June of 2020 by André Florence, Matheus Moraes (ex-CFO of 99 and ex-CEO of 99, respectively) and Guilherme Azevedo (co-founder of startup Dr. Consulta) with the goal to offer health care plans with both digital and presential services. Its app connects patients to health professionals hired by the startup, as well as to their network of hospitals and laboratories, such as Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz and the Fleury Group. In only 7 months, Alice has reached over 1100 customers and 100 employees.

The healthtech bets on preventive medicine, gathering the user’s health data in the app and building a reliable medical history. The patient’s evolution can be monitored, and clients can keep up with their medical goals.

“We grew an average of 51% monthly since our launch. We estimate to quintuple our number of members until the end of the year.” states André Florence, the healthtech’s co-founder and CEO. “The positive impact that we are causing in people’s health is incredible. Alice is the proof that being an individual health manager, and not a traditional health insurance, is the path that makes people healthier.”, he adds.
