Daldewolf, an independent business law firm with offices in Brussels and Kinshasa, has strengthened its Brussels office with the hiring of four lawyers and a chief impact officer.

Robert de Baerdemaeker and Hilde Smout join the firm as of counsel and counsel respectively in the social law team in Belgium.

Robert has developed in-depth and recognized expertise in employment law, criminal employment law, social security law and financial criminal law, while Hilde is highly regarded by her clients and colleagues for the comprehensive legal services she provides in social law.

Also joining the team are Quentin Van den Eynde as counsel on the arbitration, complex litigation and mediation team in Belgium, and as part of the firm’s US desk, and Alexander Vandendries as an associate on the tax law team in Belgium.

The firm has also announced the appointment of Mathieu Maes as the firm’s first chief impact officer, and who joins from the International Chamber of Commerce in Belgium, where he was secretary general.

In his new role with the firm, Mathieu will oversee strategy and development functions across all offices, helping to align decision-making to purpose and to consider the impact of practices on the business of the clients.
