ACL Energy secures financing from Qualitas Energy for Italian BESS development

ACL Energy, a leading independent developer of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Italy with over 5 GW of total capacity, has finalised a financing transaction with Qualitas Energy, a global investment and management platform focussed on renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.

The resources raised will enable ACL Energy to fund its minority stake in the construction of two 211 MW BESS systems located in Lombardy and Puglia. These facilities are among the first of their kind in Italy and are being developed and built in partnership with a major industrial group specialising in energy infrastructure. The operation is part of a long-term industrial development path that positions ACL Energy as a key player in the national energy transition, supported by a growing and diversified project pipeline.

BonelliErede assisted the sponsor, ACL Energy, in all aspects of the transaction, specifically in the negotiation and signing of the financial documentation. The multidisciplinary team was led by partner Gabriele Malgeri and included senior associate Luigi Mazzola, Giorgia Racini, and Jasmine Proietti. Tax profiles were managed by partner Marco Adda and senior associate Giovanni Bisleri.
