A&O Shearman Spain appoints David Díez as Head of Public Law and Regulated Sectors

A&O Shearman Spain has appointed David Díez as Head of the Public Law and Regulated Sectors practice in Spain, further strengthening a strategic area for the firm both nationally and globally. With this appointment, A&O Shearman’s Spanish team now includes 17 partners, 8 counsels, and 120 lawyers.

With over 20 years of experience, David began his career at Garrigues, where he spent a decade before joining Watson Farley & Williams as Partner responsible for Regulatory Law in Spain. He holds a Law degree from the University of Navarra and a master’s degree from IE Business School.

David has extensive expertise advising companies, financial institutions, and investment funds across regulated industries, with a strong track record in high-profile transactions involving the acquisition and financing of renewable energy assets. Since 2014, he has served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) and is a founding member of AEDEN, the Spanish Association of Energy Lawyers.
