The arrival of the new partner also signals the creation of the firm’s mining practice as part of its natural resources team.

“This step is another milestone in the firm's long-term growth strategy, a strategy focused on building practices that add value to clients with advice focused on companies and industries that require an agile and intensive legal accompaniment with the highest quality standards,” the firm said in a statement.

"We see a great opportunity for growth in the mining industry, an area where the availability of resources in our country has an extraordinary potential and where there is a political consensus that such resources must be fully developed," Marcelo Tavarone, the firm’s managing partner, said.

For his part, Nicolas Eliaschev, a partner at the firm specializing in energy and infrastructure, said: "We see a natural complementarity at the firm between our energy practice, which is already a leader in the market, and the incorporation of specialized capabilities in mining. The mining industry is both a major consumer of energy and a supplier of key raw materials for the energy transition. From this point of view, adding Marcos to our team of partners is a logical step.

In addition, the synergies between the firm's already recognized banking and corporate practices, and the new mining practice area, will also be very relevant for the firm's growth and full service capabilities,” Eliaschev said.

Marcos Moreno Hueyo graduated as a lawyer from the University of Buenos Aires and holds an LLM in comparative law from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago.

He also holds a postgraduate degree in mining law from the Universidad Finis Terrae in Chile, graduating with the highest distinction of his class.

Marcos focuses his practice on mining and, prior to joining Tavarone Rovelli Salim & Miani, he worked for several years in mining practice areas of other renowned firms, both in Argentina and Chile, advising international mining companies.

During his years in Chile, he also held the position of legal manager of mining company Orosur Mining Inc.

He specializes in advising senior and junior mining players, mainly in complex transactions, as well as in corporate governance matters related to TSX-listed mining companies.
