Peru’s Porto Legal grows its team with additional attorney

Peruvian law firm Porto Legal has increased the size of its team with the addition of attorney Luis Ernesto Marín.

Luis Ernesto is a specialist in fintech, financial services and insurance regulation and corporate finance, services that are in demand as the country continues to move toward a digital society, the firm said in a statement.

He regularly advises companies, financial institutions and sponsors on domestic and cross-border finance transactions, and has significant expertise in regulatory banking and insurance matters, with more than 15 years of experience in financial and insurance regulation, as well as in local and cross-border financial transactions.

His practice is focused on financial services regulation, including advice on innovative business models in different verticals, corporate finance, derivatives and insurance.

He worked for more than a decade at Baker McKenzie, holding the positions of senior associate and Of Counsel, and has also worked as an in-house counsel at Scotiabank.

He holds an MSc in finance and corporate law from the ESAN Graduate School of Business, where he also successfully completed seminars and diplomas in insurance regulation and fintech, and he holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

He studied a course in fintech at Harvard University, as well as in the economics of blockchain and digital assets at the Wharton Executive Education institution.
