Dr. Anna Wolters-Höhne has gone back to the firm where she forged her reputation, rejoining Bird & Bird on July 7th. Wolters-Höhne boasts two decades of expertise leading and coordinating major international patent cases, including patent infringement proceedings, patent damage claims, compulsory licensing proceedings and nullity actions before national courts, as well as advising on opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and the UPC. During her previous 16-year spell at Bird & Bird, she was heavily involved in life-sciences disputes in Düsseldorf and Hamburg, becoming one of the firm’s best-known German patent litigators in the process.

Of her return to the London-headquartered firm, Anna Wolters-Höhne commented: “I am excited to be returning to Bird & Bird – a firm that I consider my home base, both professionally and personally. Being a partner at Bird & Bird again is a significant step ‘back to the future’ for me: Bird & Bird offers the ideal platform to provide our clients with first-class patent law advice in an increasingly complex environment with an outstanding international team.”

Throughout her career, Wolters-Höhne has represented clients in numerous landmark preliminary injunction proceedings, among other matters. Proceedings in the life-sciences sector will remain an important focus of her work.

Christian Harmsen, Head of IP at Bird & Bird in Germany, stated “As one of the leading law firms in patent infringement proceedings before the UPC and national courts, we rely on a large number of strong teams. Anna’s return therefore represents an important strategic reinforcement, having previously expanded our partnership on the legal side with the internal promotions of Dr. Annika Lückemann and Dr. Moritz Schroeder.”
