Peruvian edtech Crehana raises $70m

The investment round was the largest series B funding for an edtech company in Latin America, and was led by private equity firm General Atlantic.
As part of the transaction, Luis Cervantes and Zeev Thepris, vice president at General Atlantic, will join Crehana’s board of directors.
With this new investment round, the company is preparing to expand its technological infrastructure and launch new products, strengthen its presence in Latin America, and enter the Brazilian market.
Founded in 2015 by Diego Olcese, CEO, and Rodolfo Dañino, COO, Crehana provides enterprises with a platform to access an array of tools that assist through the entire employee learning and development journey.
The company’s courses also include the assessment of skill gaps in an existing employee base, learning path recommendations, and progress tracking, among other solutions, allowing companies to augment their employees’ skillsets, while allowing them to take courses while continuing to work.
The company works with more than 400 experts to offer over 700 courses that teach upwards of 100,000 techniques and competencies.
Crehana was advised on the funding round in the US by Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian.
Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison (in London and New York) advised on contract negotiation, while in Peru and Colombia the company was counseled on due diligence by Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría.
General Atlantic was advised in Mexico by law firm Creel, García–Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez.
