Minerva Foods acquires Chile’s Frigorífico Patagonia

Minerva Foods, a leading beef exporter in South America, has completed its acquisition of 100% of the shares of Frigorífico Patagonia, a company dedicated to the lamb industry in southern Chile.

The acquisition was part of the purchase of 13 industrial plants and a distribution center owned by the Marfrig Group in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, a transaction which has a total value of $1.01 billion.

“This was a challenging transaction, involving multi-jurisdictional coordination and depending  on various government antitrust approvals for its success,” according to Chilean law firm Carey, which advised Minerva Foods on the deal.

The acquisition makes Minerva Foods the second-largest beef producer in South America.

Carey’s team advising Minerva Foods was led by partners Guillermo Acuña and Manuel José Garcés, with associates Daniela Pfeffer, Pablo Pavez and Rebeca Silva.

Stocche Forbes acted as counsel to Minerva Foods in Brazil, with a team led by partners Guilherme Forbes, Fabiano Milani and Rafael Andrade, with associates André Penna Bandeira de Mello, Pedro Rocha Ferreira and Thaila Castro Maluf Oliveira.
