King & Spalding expands in Asia
Publicado el 16 jun 2015

King & Spalding marks a new step in Asia by launching a Tokyo office with the hire of four partners from Ashurst.
As the firm’s second office in Asia after its opening in Singapore in 2010, the Tokyo office will focus on cross-border investment, project development, project finance, and global disputes. It is expected to capitalize on the momentum of the firm’s Singapore office, which counts ten resident partners specialized on the power & energy sector as well as international arbitration.
This new move brings the total number of King & Spalding’s offices to eighteen, with ten based outside the US. In the early 2000’s, top management of the firm decided to review its international strategy and the firm has since accelerated its path of internationalization. During a previous exclusive interview with Leaders League, Robert Hays, Chairman since 2005, described the firm’s international strategy as a “rational dynamic expansion.” He said: “Our strategy is not to grow for the sake of growing. We are giving ourselves the means to bring quality to its highest level.”
King & Spalding has been very active in lateral hire since 2014. Earlier this year, it also boosted its dispute resolution capacity in the UK.
