Garrigues Opens New Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group in Peru

Garrigues has strengthened its Peruvian office with the opening of a new litigation and arbitration practice group in Lima. A team of five highly regarded lawyers, led by Hugo Forno and Melissa Núñez, will run the practice.

Garrigues Opens New Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group in Peru

Hugo Forno has more than 30 years’ experience in business law. He has acted as an arbitrator in several proceedings and held different positions, such as general secretary of the National Foreign Investment and Technologies Commission (CONITE). He was a member of the consumer protection commission of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) and was an advisor to diverse commissions looking into the reform of the Peruvian Civil Code. He concentrates his expertise on contracts and civil law.


Melissa Núnez holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and earned a master’s degree in corporate law and dispute resolution at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Mrs. Núñez has focused her expertise on litigation, with a deep emphasis on construction matters, having spent the last five years as lead partner of the civil litigation practice at her prior job.


These additions reinforce Garrigues’ commitment to offer its clients a tailor-made legal offering and represent the continued consolidation process of its Lima office and its LatAm practice, having already set up dispute resolution offices in Bogota and Santiago de Chile.
