Former Mattos Filho partner Flávio Pereira Lima opens litigation boutique

At the end of March, former Mattos Filho partner Flávio Pereira Lima announced the opening of his new law firm, Flávio Pereira Lima Advogados, specializing in dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration. The lawyer, who is leaving his former firm after two decades, is joined in the new venture by Ananda Palazzin and Lucas Cazarim.

In a press release accompanying the launch of Flávio Pereira Lima Advogados, Lima reflected on the changing dynamics of the Brazilian legal profession in recent years. "In Brazil, we started to see the emergence of large law firms during the privatization of Vale. Typically owned by a single individual, they began to take on partners as they grew. Around 2010, these law firms started to become more structured, employing a new form of remuneration and professional organization, and Mattos Filho was a major innovator in this respect. I am proud to have been able to start, succeed in, and finish a career at the firm, and to leave it in good shape for others," he stated.

Let’s meet the partners:

Flávio Pereira Lima was a partner in the litigation and arbitration practice at Mattos Filho for 20 years. He is a graduate of the University of São Paulo Faculty of Law and completed a specialization in civil procedure at of São Paulo’s Universidade Católica. He has served as a professor of civil law at Paulista University, a council member of OAB-SP (São Paulo Bar Association), and as president of the coordination committee of the conciliation, mediation, and arbitration chamber of OAB-SP.

Ananda Palazzin earned her bachelor’s and master’s from the University of São Paulo Faculty of Law and has completed several university top-up courses in areas such as arbitration and administrative contracts. She has worked as a lawyer at firms such as Mattos Filho, Cascione Pulino Boulos Advogados, and Mannrich Senra e Vasconcelos Advogados.

Lucas Cazarim is a law graduate of Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. He was an attorney at Modesto Carvalhosa, Kuyven e Ronco Advogados for over six years before becoming a partner at Flávio Pereira Lima Advogados.
