Global firm votes for combination with local affiliate Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing and opens offices in Hilo and Honolulu.

Dentons, already the world's largest law firm by headcount, has continued its impressive global expansion through its combination with Hawaiian affiliate firm Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing (AHFI).

The move sees Dentons become the first global law firm to have a major presence in Hawaii, with the firm hoping that its offering in the state will benefit Asian clients looking to do business in the US and US clients entering Asia. The combination further expands the firm's impressive footprint within the region, with its new offices in Honolulu and Hilo leaving the firm with 90 offices in the Pacific and 24 across the US.

Paul Alston, AHFI's president and founder, was excited about the tie-up's implication for clients, remarking: "By joining Dentons, the world’s leading law firm, our clients will benefit from the extraordinarily deep bench of talented lawyers along the Pacific coast, in six key locations in California and across a one of a kind footprint and significantly enhance our introduction to our Pacific neighbors."

The news was also welcomed by Jeff Haidet, Dentons' US chairman, who added: “Not only are we reinforcing our formidable standing as the leading law firm across the Pacific, we have added significant talent to our already deep bench with this affiliation.”
