Demarest Strengthens its Banking and Finance Practice with Helen Naves

In February, distinguished Brazilian firm Demarest Advogados announced the lateral hiring of well-known banking and finance partner Helen Naves.

 

Ms. Naves earned a Bachelor of Laws, a specialization degree in Capital Markets and a Master’s in Commercial Law from Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Additionally, she holds an LL.M. in Corporate, Banking and Finance Law from Fordham University School of Law and boasts 20 years of experience in the legal market.

 

Throughout her career, Ms. Naves has worked as an in-house counsel at Banco Safra and Grupo Santander Brasil, as an international associate at Shearman & Sterling and as an associate at both Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. e Quiroga Advogados and Vieira Rezende Advogados. Moreover, before joining Demarest, she worked for five years at full-service firm Trench Rossi Watanabe as partner.

 

She routinely drafts and negotiates structured cross-border finance contracts, guarantees, derivatives, bank loans and equity capital market deals. Furthermore, Ms. Naves expertly deals with project finance matters and transactions involving agribusiness, export and import. It is also worth noting she is admitted to practice law in both Brazil and the State of New York.
