Deloitte Legal has announced the establishment of a multi-practice team dedicated to the Space Economy, with the goal of offering comprehensive legal support to technology companies, institutional investors, and public entities operating in the sector. The team also assists companies active in industries such as telecommunications, energy, and financial services in developing synergies with the Space Economy, both from upstream and downstream perspectives. With this team of professionals, the firm aims to seize the opportunities of a rapidly expanding sector that has experienced remarkable growth in recent years: Italy, in fact, stands out in Europe for having the third-best ratio between investments and gross domestic product in this field.
The Deloitte Legal team includes Avv. Francesco Paolo Bello, Managing Partner of Deloitte Legal; Avv. Giorgio Mariani, Global Head of M&A; Avv. Prof. Francesco Munari, Head of the Port, Shipping & Transport and International & EU Law practice areas; Avv. Ida Palombella, Head of the Intellectual Property & Information Technology practice area; Avv. Emilio Cucchiara, Head of the Antitrust practice area; and Avv. Guerino Cipriano, Head of the Banking & Insurance Regulatory practice area.
In line with this strategy of growth and innovation, Deloitte has recently entered into a partnership with the E. Amaldi Foundation — participated by the Italian Space Agency and the Hypatia Consortium — launching a cross-functional and multidisciplinary Space Team that provides end-to-end solutions to support the growth of companies in the Space sector, the operations of institutional investors, and the initiatives of public sector clients. The firm also aims to position itself as the reference advisor enabling access to the Space Economy for companies in traditional sectors such as banking, insurance, energy, and infrastructure.
Furthermore, Deloitte has launched the “NextOrbit” initiative, based at the NextHub spaces in Bari, which promotes collaboration among startups, companies, academia, and institutions to facilitate technology transfer and the creation of new commercial, innovative, and sustainable applications between Earth and Space. The initiative is part of the broader Network positioning strategy, integrating an approach focused on innovation & ventures strategy specifically targeting the Space Economy, in constant dialogue with the innovation ecosystem.
