Chilean TV startup Zapping raises capital, enters Brazil

This round was carried out in the context of the company's expansion in Brazil through the acquisition of Guigo TV and its internationalization.
Joaquín Niemann, a professional golfer, stands out as one of the investors, and who invested $1 million in the round and was instrumental in creating a strategic alliance with Zapping to transmit content from the new LIV golf tour.
The company has also entered the Brazilian market through a partnership with local company Globo TV.
“The launch in Brazil is an important milestone for the company as it represents the beginning of our international expansion, forcing us to deploy our CDN and our technology throughout the region,” Gustavo Morandé, Zapping’s CEO, said.
Zapping was advised on the financing round by Chilean law firm Carey, with a team comprising partner Francisco Guzmán and associates Constanza Rivera, Andrés Latorre and Sofía Beckdorf.
Gunderson Dettmer acted as international counsel to Zapping, with a team led by partner Daniel M. Green, with associates Daniel Gallo and Eduardo Espinoza.
