Andersen has incorporated the Valencian boutique Margareto Intellectual Property (IP), a firm specialising in industrial and intellectual-property law and in advising companies on their intangible assets. As a result of the integration, Carolina Sánchez Margareto, founder of Margareto IP, joins Andersen as a Director in the Corporate/Commercial Department of the Valencia office, together with María Amparo Godoy, as lawyer.
With this merger, the firm led at Iberian level by José Vicente Morote expands its capabilities in key areas such as the management, filing and registration of trademarks, patents and industrial designs, as well as in the preliminary advice, registration and protection of intellectual-property rights.
With 20 years of experience, Carolina Sánchez Margareto holds a law degree from the University of Valencia and postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration and Management, Transnational Intellectual Property, and as a specialist technician in Trademarks, Design and Competition Defence. She specialises in the management, prosecution and defence of trademarks and designs before bodies such as EUIPO, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and WIPO. Throughout her career she has worked for the textile, pharmaceutical, food, artistic and audiovisual sectors, and has advised Spanish brands on international expansion strategies in markets such as China, Japan, the United States, Latin America and the United Arab Emirates. She is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA).
José Vicente Morote, managing partner of Andersen Spain, stated that “the integration of Margareto IP into Andersen strengthens our portfolio of highly specialised legal services and will allow us to offer even more comprehensive solutions to our clients in such a crucial area as intangible assets.” He noted that “this integration reflects our commitment to delivering service based on quality and excellence, as well as to growing so that we remain the benchmark firm in the Valencian legal market.”
Benjamín Prieto, partner at Andersen and Head of the Valencia office, explained that “the addition of Carolina Sánchez Margareto and her team broadens our technical reach in the field of industrial and intellectual property and consolidates us as leaders in key areas of law where innovation is a differentiating factor.” He added that “having a first-class IP practice is indispensable for meeting the service demands of Valencia’s business ecosystem, which is characterised by its sophistication and by its innovative, entrepreneurial spirit.”
