Stephenson Harwood announces the association with Chinese law firm Wei Tu
International law firm Stephenson Harwood announces that it is to enter into an association with independent Chinese law firm Wei Tu under the CEPA arrangements. The alliance will be known as “Stephenson Harwood-Wei Tu (China) Association.”

The association will grant Stephenson Harwood the right to provide clients the “one-stop” services for Hong Kong, English and PRC law advice (as the PRC advice being offered by Wei Tu). For that CEPA (Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement) is a free trade agreement concluded between Mainland China and Hong Kong, under which Hong Kong-based law firms can operate with those based in Mainland China to provide legal services in Mainland China.
Based in Guangzhou, Wei Tu is led by Managing Partner Xianming Lu, who worked for Stephenson Harwood for several years and later founded Wei Tu in 2014. Wei Tu specializes in the cross-border financial transactions and commercial litigations.
Actively expanding its presence in Asia, Stephenson Harwood currently has five offices on the continent. The association is considered a further expansion in response to the high demand for legal service, both from the clients looking for oversea investments and from foreign clients looking for domestic investment in China.
