Peru’s Petra Legal adds new corporate law partner

Peruvian law firm Petra Legal has announced the incorporation of Martin Mayandia Burns as a new partner in its corporate law practice.

Martin’s addition strengthens and expands the firm’s corporate practice, enabling it to continue providing high-quality services and excellence to its local and international clients, the firm said in a statement.

Martin has more than 15 years of professional experience and has led sophisticated transactions in infrastructure finance, banking, mergers & acquisitions, financial structuring and restructuring, and company insolvency in regulated or non-regulated markets.

He advises companies in a range of industries, both local and international, assisting them in transactions for launching startups, and for financing, structuring, and restructuring in Peru.

Prior to joining Petra Legal, Martin held the position of general manager at mining company Kuya Silver, and continues to be an independent board member at a number of companies, such as Kulkao, Somos Moto and Tradek.

He held the position of senior associate and practice head at law firm Benites, Forno & Ugaz, and was also an associate at Rosselló Abogados. He has also held the position of part-time professor at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas.

He holds an MBA from the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, and an LLM from Columbia Law School in the US, and a law degree from the Universidad de Lima and a diploma in banking and finance from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
