Peru’s Muñiz promotes six to principal partner
Estudio Muñiz Abogados has announced the promotion of six lawyers, five men and one woman, to the position of principal partner.
The new partners are José Martín Ballón, María del Pilar Florez, Jorge Luis Otoya, César Alfredo Puntriano, Yuri Vega Mere and Pierino Stucchi, and all of whom are veterans of the firm and with ample experience in their respective fields.
José Ballón focuses his practice on corporate law and M&A, with experience also in foreign investment and infrastructure. He holds a law degree from Universidad de Lima and a master's degree in business law from the Universidad de Navarra in Spain.
He worked for the firm from 2002-06, which was followed by a stint at law firm Cuatrecasas, before he returned to Muñiz to take on the role of partner.
A specialist in migratory law, María del Pilar Florez is a law graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and has more than 15 years’ experience in labor and immigration law, with a focus on the planning and implementation of residency in Peru for foreigners and family groups.
María has been with the firm for more than 20 years.
Jorge Otoya, who has also been part of the firm for 20 years, is a specialist in tax law and also has experience in education, project finance and syndications. His academic background includes a course in international tax law at the Universidad Austral de Argentina.
César Puntriano studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Perú and also has a master's degree in labor and social security law from the same university.
In addition to being an expert in labor and social security, he also has in-depth knowledge and experience in labor procedural law.
He worked for the firm between 2006-13, prior to moving to PwC Peru, returning to the firm in 2016. He is also currently a professor at the ESAN University.
Yuri Vega is an expert in construction and real estate law and heads that area within the firm, for which he has worked for nearly 25 years.
He holds a law degree from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, and a master's degree from Universidad San Martín de Porres.
Pierino Stucchi has a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Perú, a master's degree in business law from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, and is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Universidad de La Coruña.
He specializes in competition, consumer, investment and digital business law. He is also currently director of the School of Law and Social Sciences of ESAN University.
