Paz Horowitz Abogados incorporates new partner
Ecuadorian law firm Paz Horowitz Abogados has announced the incorporation of a new partner, Andrés Chong Qui Toris, who will be based in the firm’s Guayaquil office. The addition of the new partner comes as Paz Horowitz is in the process of integration with Dentons, the world's largest law firm.
“Andrés will represent the firm from the city of Guayaquil in order to strengthen the team and continue providing the best services and legal advice to clients in the coastal city in a personalized way,” the firm said.
Andrés is an attorney with more than 10 years’ experience and was director of the labor area in a prestigious law firm with presence in Quito and Guayaquil for three years.
He currently leads his own labor risk management firm and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at prestigious universities in Ecuador, as well as being a member of the advisory board of local and international academic journals.
He has served as an advisor and advocate for Ecuadorian and international public and private companies and non-profit organizations.
Andrés obtained his law degree from the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil and holds a master's degree in constitutional law, and is about to obtain another master's degree in occupational safety and health from the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo.
He is also a former scholar of the specialization course for Latin American experts in labor relations endorsed by the Universidad de Castilla - La Mancha in Spain, in collaboration with the universities of Bologna, Ferrara, Venice and Verona.
"Andrés joins the firm at a key moment as we combine with Dentons,” Jorge Paz Durini, co-founding partner of the firm, said.
“Our goal is to strengthen our team and portfolio of services with the quality, technology and security that only a global firm can offer. We are sure that the addition of Andrés to our team of partners will allow us to grow as a firm in Guayaquil, a strategic place in the country as the largest city in which large economic sectors are located," he added.
"The structure and trajectory of Paz Horowitz, as well as its combination with Dentons, is aligned to the provision of comprehensive legal services of the highest quality and with global reach,” the new partner said.
“Our commonality in non-negotiable ethical standards, as well as the focus on adding value to our current and future clients, has facilitated this partnership."
Andrés Chong Qui Toris joins a team of eight partners, who lead and represent Paz Horowitz Abogados in more than 30 practice areas and advise national and international clients.
