Earlier this week, New York based Debevoise & Plimpton announced the opening of its Luxembourg and tenth office worldwide.

According to the firm, its Luxembourg office will be entirely dedicated to private equity clients and focusing on the establishment of funds related to regulatory matters. Located in Luxembourg, an increasingly significant jurisdiction for private equity firms, the firm’s new office, is a strategic asset in strengthening Debevoise & Plimpton’s position as a leading consultant in private investment funds. 

The firm’s Luxembourg office will be headed by regulatory and asset management expert Christopher Dortschy, who is joining Debevoise & Plimpton as a partner and international counsel. Dortschy has more than 10 years of legal experience in Luxembourg and frequently advises international asset management firms on establishing, administering and winding-up all types of Luxembourg regulated and unregulated investment vehicles. Prior to joining Debevoise & Plimpton, he worked at magic circle firms Allen & Overy and Dechert LLP. Alongside Dortschy, the firm will be co-led by Patricia Volhard, a partner in the firm’s London and Frankfurt offices, Volhard is one of Europe’s leading private funds lawyers, and has actively been involved with Invest Europe.
