José Proaño Bustamante has been appointed partner at Pérez Bustamante & Ponce Abogados, bolstering the corporate & tax practice areas of the Ecuadorian firm. He will co-lead the tax practice alongside partner Juan Gabriel Reyes, while the corporate practice will be led by Rosa María Guerra. This move takes the partner count at the firm to 19.
With over 24 years’ experience, Proaño has focused his expertise in corporate matters with deep emphasis on financial advice and tax law, advising mainly in the oil & gas, mining, industrial and exports industries.
A law, commercial engineering and public accountancy graduate of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a partner at PwC for four years. In addition, he is a member of the Ecuadorian tax law institute, the Ecuadorian Association of Certified Public Accountants and International Bar Association.
