Netflix names new IP counsel for Spain, Portugal and Italy
Netflix, the global film-streaming platform and production company, has announced the incorporation of Giuseppe Di Bella as its intellectual property counsel for Spain, Portugal and Italy.
An experienced lawyer in intellectual property, copyright, entertainment law, music, trademarks, advertising and digital law, Di Bella joins Netflix from MENTA Abogados in Madrid, where he had worked as an intellectual property lawyer since 2018.
In that role he provided legal advice in the audiovisual, music, advertising and gaming sectors on a wide range of matters including copyright, trademarks and image rights.
He has significant experience in the film and TV series production industry, covering development, production, post production and distribution, and has experience in drafting and negotiating production, co-production and pre-acquisition deals, script/title/episode clearances, music clearance and licensing, and format licensing.
Prior to joining MENTA in Madrid he worked as a notary assistant at Studio Notarile Associato Di Bella in Milazzo in Sicily, and has also worked as a choreographer for Spanish TV station TVE.
He has a master’s degree in intellectual property and information technology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, a master’s degree in global TV management from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, and a degree in jurisprudence from the Università degli Studi di Messina.
