The 30th edition of leading real-estate event MIPIM, held in Cannes, France, has just finished. A number of interesting projects were launched.

The 30th edition of leading real-estate event MIPIM, held in Cannes, France, has just finished. A number of interesting projects were launched.


Radisson to open hotel in Sisters towers

 

Radisson Hospitality AB, a subsidiary of the Radisson Hotel Group, announced the signing of its first Radisson Collection hotel in France, in the La Défense business district of Paris. Located in the Sisters Towers, a new development by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield currently under construction, the Radisson Collection Hotel & Suites, Paris La Défense will feature 309 rooms and apartments. The architect for the project will be Christian de Portzamparc and the interior design is being handled by Jean Philippe Nuel.

 

Commercialization of Paris Olympic village launched

 

The Olympic Delivery Authority for the Paris 2024 Games, Solideo, used the conference to launch a call for tenders to build the Olympic and Paralympic Village, on an area straddling Saint Ouen and île Saint Denis to the north of central Paris. In order to be considered for the project, real-estate developers must fulfill a number of criteria, including having a proven track record in urban construction (or partnering with a developer that does) and agreeing to have work with a co-ordinating architect.

 

Toulouse urban regeneration projects in the spotlight

 

The mayor of Toulouse, Jean Luc Moudenc, was on hand to unveil the 15 winning projects from a public-private tender entitled ‘Design me Toulouse’. The projects retained include one to redevelop two sites at Toulouse airport, the transformation of the Saint Aubin Crypt into a creative hub entitled the Light House, and the renovation Stade Toulouse’s rugby stadium. The project is set to include apartments, retail units and a rugby museum.

 

MIPIM 2019 winners unveiled

 

The twelve winners of the MIPIM 2019 awards were announced at a ceremony in the grand auditorium of the Palais des Festivals on the third night of the conference. Among the winners were: Club Med Cefalu (Best Hotel & Tourism Resort), Greenwich Peninsula Low Carbon Energy Centre (Best Industrial & Logistics Development), Rebuilding Frankfurt’s Old Centre (Best Urban Regeneration Project), Laborde (Best Office and Business development) and Mille Arbres (Best Futura Project).
