Turkey’s ELIG Gürkaynak adds partners and counsel
Turkish law firm ELIG Gürkaynak has announced two new partners, Ebru Ince and Harun Gündüz, while Selen Ermanli Sakar and Can Yildirim have been promoted to counsel.
Mayora & Mayora, a leading law firm in Central America that has been in business for more than 55 years, has opened an office in Roatán, bringing the number of its offices in the country to three, in addition to its offices in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.
With this opening, the firm’s presence in Honduras increases to five locations across the region, including Guatemala and El Salvador.
The new Roatán office will be headed by Mayora & Mayora’s partner and notary Odín Guillén Leiva, who will be accompanied by associate Roy Millares, a graduate of the National University of Honduras, and who holds an LLM in corporate and commercial law from Queen Mary University in London.
The two work alongside partners Rafael Briz, Claudia Pereira, Sandra Castillo, Juan Carlos Casellas, Paola Galich, Manuel Telles and María Fernanda Morales Pellecer.
According to Guillén Leiva, “a year and a half ago we started to receive requests requiring our attention to corporate, civil, tax, labor and notarial matters from important business leaders from the department of Islas de la Bahía in Honduras".
Amid the increase in the volume of work that the firm was receiving, the decision was made to open an office specifically in Roatán, he added.
Mayora & Mayora is a regionally integrated firm, offering a direct response to clients seeking sophisticated legal support across a number of jurisdictions. The firm specializes in different areas of law, such as administrative, banking, civil, corporate, financial, immigration, labor, tax and litigation, among others.
The firm is an exclusive member in Guatemala since the 1980s of Lex Mundi, the largest network of private law firms.
"We consider that the possibility of attending to complex legal matters and important economic interests, as offered by Mayora & Mayora, will contribute to the existing investment in the paradisiacal islands of the Honduran Caribbean," Guillén Leiva said.
