International law firm Mayer Brown will open an office in Tokyo in the first semester of 2018, to be led by new partner Rupert Burrows.

International law firm Mayer Brown will open an office in Tokyo in the first semester of 2018, to be led by new partner Rupert Burrows.


With the opening of the Tokyo office, Mayer Brown will be able to serve a growing clientele with whom it has forged close ties over the years.

 

The firm has long advised global financial institutions and multinational corporations based in Japan, which spurred the decision to set up shop in the country.."This is a major step in improving Mayer Brown's offering in the Asia-Pacific region, "explained Terence Tung, senior partner in charge of Asia. "We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, including strengthening our project management skills in Southeast Asia with the development of our Singapore office.
