MAIO Legal acquires Portuguese law firm SMCA

Spanish law firm MAIO Legal has acquired Sousa Pinto, Morais Cardoso & Associados (SMCA), a Portuguese law firm that will provide it with a presence in the country. The deal is part of MAIO’s strategic growth plan, which seeks to increase the firm’s international footprint. It already has offices in Mexico in addition to a China and Italian desk.
As a result of the merger and the inclusion of the SMCA team, MAIO will now have more than 80 lawyers in its practice across Spain, Portugal, and Mexico, including 28 partners.
MAIO Legal is ranked as Recommended by Leaders League for its practices in project finance, labor & employment advisory, private equity advisory, and corporate tax law.
