Six attorneys have risen through the ranks at Brazilian firm Gusmão & Labrunie to become partners. They are Amanda Fonseca De Siervi, Carolina Nakata, Vicente de Moura Rosenfeld, Juliano Ryota Murakami, Priscila de Barros Thereza Yamashita and Thiago Arpagaus de Souza.


About the firm:

About the new partners:

Amanda Fonseca De Siervi: She joined the office in 2015 and has over 20 years of experience in the legal market, working for some of the most prestigious firms in the country, such as Machado Meyer Advogados. Her practice areas are: unfair competition, advertising and litigation. She currently has amaster’s in law, achieved upon completion of the graduate program of Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo in 2005. She speaks six languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.


Carolina Nakata: She has 15 years under her belt at Gusmão & Labrunie, having joined the firm in 2002 as a patent attorney. Her current areas of practice are patents, industrial design and litigation. Concerning her education, she graduated in law from Universidade Paulista, but she has an eclectic background as she also graduated in chemical engineering at Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation and took courses on applied molecular biology and cosmetology at São Judas Tadeu University and Racine Institute, respectively.


Vicente de Moura Rosenfeld: He joined the firm in 2004 as an attorney and left in 2010, but he was rehired as a partner in 2017, bringing to the table valuable international experience, as he worked for the International Football Association as a brand protection legal counsel. A law graduated of Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, he also holds a master’s degree from ISDE Law & Business School, obtained in 2015. He works in the litigation practice area of the firm.


Juliano Ryota Murakami: A graduate of Sao Paulo University, he joined the firm in 2002 and specialized in management of innovation for competitiveness at Fundação Instituto de Administração in 2012. His practice consists of patents in electric, electronic and mechanic fields and Inventions implemented by computer programs, designs (industrial designs) and unfair competition.


Priscila de Barros Thereza Yamashita: She started her career in the firm in 2002, when she was studying biology at Mogi das Cruzes University. Her skills as a biologist proved useful as one of her practice areas is plant varieties. In 2008, she specialized in applied molecular biology at São Judas Tadeu University. In 2015, she graduated  law from Universidade Paulista. Her other fields  are patents, design (industrial design) and trade secrets.


Thiago Arpagaus de Souza: He has been with the firm for almost a decade. He joined in 2006 as a senior attorney. He is currently studying business and people management at Insper. This specialization will build on his bachelor’s degree in law from São Bernardo do Campo University and his specialization in intellectual property from Getúlio Vargas Foundation.  His practice areas are: trademarks, domain names, copyright and right of publicity, software, unfair competition and advertising.
