 The US online travel leading company expands its partnership with Argentine Decolar


The US holding company Expedia, which represents one of the largest online travel groups in the world and holds well-known brands such as Hotel.com and Trivago, has just strengthened its position in Latin America by expanding its strategic partnership with Decolar.

The deal amounting to 270 million dollars expands the 12 years previously established relationship between the two companies and represents a minority equity investment as Expedia takes stake for about 20% in Decolar. Also, this transaction leverages both companies hotel supply. Expedia European and U.S. users will benefit of an extended offer by allowing them to access Decolar hotels in Latin America. In exchange, , Expedia hotels will be available to Decolar users.

Decolar, the parent company which manages the Portuguese decolar.com and Spanish despegar.com branded websites, is the leading Latin America online travel company founded in 1999 by the Argentine Roberto Souviron. The group is already settled in 19 countries in this region as well as Spain and in the U.S.
