EY abogados announces the integration of Samaniego Law effective February 1st.

Samaniego Law is a hybrid between a business law firm, a strategic-legal consulting firm and a technological platform that provides solutions to complex problems. The firm consists of a team of international lawyers and strategic and IT consultants specializing in technology and dispute resolution, with support from a network of professionals and legal interim managers.

Javier Fernández-Samaniego, who launched the firm in 2017, will join EY Abogados as the partner in charge of Legal Managed Services (LMS), a department which had previously consisted of eight professionals in Spain. The newly reinforced department will support both EY’s legal and consulting businesses. Fernández-Samaniego will also be the LMS market leader for continental Europe.

The integration includes Samaniego’s legaltech business, headed by Manuel Esteban, and its projects business, led by Silvia Pérez-Navarro.

On the one hand, it will promote and strengthen EY Abogados’ technology and conflict resolution area, where Fernández-Samaniego and his legal team provide new capabilities, especially in matters of alternative conflict resolution (international arbitration, mediation and online conflict resolution) and reinforce those that the firm already has in technology, data protection and cybersecurity. On the other hand, it will reinforce the offering of managed legal services that Samaniego provides as an ALSP", said Ramón Palacín, managing partner of EY Abogados.
