Britain's Sports Direct buys six Toys 'R' Us stores in Spain for €34m
British multinational Sports Direct has reached a strategic agreement with Toys 'R' Us by which it will acquire six commercial premises of the toy company in Spain through the 'sale & leaseback' formula.
Through this agreement, the toy maker becomes a tenant of these properties sharing the space with the new owner in the stores located in Alcobendas (Madrid), Sant Boi (Barcelona), Granada, Valencia, Malaga and Pamplona.
Eversheds Sutherland Nicea´s Madrid office advised Sports Direct with a team comprising partner Javier Ibáñez Gabernet and lawyers Raquel Badell, Andrés Ponce and Luis Pérez Casas.
Sports Direct has more than 700 stores in Europe, three of them located in Spain (Torrejón de Ardoz, in Madrid, Zaragoza and Castellón).
