Portuguese law firm Abreu Advogados has hired the head of PLMJ’s real estate department Tiago Mendonça de Castro.
Mendonça de Castro, who had been a partner at PLMJ for 12 years, had been with the firm for nearly 25 years in total.
Also making the move from PLMJ to Abreu is Diogo Belard Correia, who joins the firm as a senior associate.
Meanwhile, the firm has also recruited JPAB - José Pedro Aguiar-Branco Advogados partner Maria de Deus Botelho. She joins Abreu as a professional partner.
Mendonça de Castro focuses on real estate and construction matters, including commercial, industrial, housing and infrastructure projects.
His expertise includes the structuring of real estate transactions, the development of retail schemes and large-scale real estate projects and investments, particularly for commercial, housing and industrial purposes, mostly for multinational companies, banks, institutional investors and family offices.
Belard Correia’s expertise includes real estate investment, in particular the acquisition, structuring, construction, development, operational use, leasing and sale of property in the tourism, hotels and resorts sectors.
Meanwhile, Deus Botelho joins the firm’s corporate, commercial and M&A practice. Her experience includes representing national and international clients on mergers and acquisitions, financial and corporate restructurings, and joint ventures, as well as advising start-ups.
