Peruvian microfinance company Caja Rural de Ahorro y Crédito Los Andes has acquired its competitor, Empresa de Crédito Alternativa.

The value of the transaction remains confidential.

The deal comprised a share-purchase agreement.

Los Andes said the deal allows it to facilitate access to credit and financial services in rural areas and contribute to the growth of thousands of entrepreneurs and small producers.

The acquisition will also strengthen its position in the microfinance market by expanding its coverage and service capacity. At the end of the deal, Los Andes will reach 930 million soles ($255 million) in assets, with a network of 129 offices and more than 200,000 clients, up from 150,000 currently, throughout the country.

Accion Digital Transformation Fund (ADTx) injected $10 million into Los Andes in 2024, and became a partner in the company with a 32% equity stake.

Los Andes was advised on the acquisition of Empresa de Crédito Alternativa by law firm Rebaza, Alcázar & De Las Casas, while Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Abaco and Diviso Grupo Financiero, shareholders of the target company, were represented by DLA Piper Perú.

DLA Piper Perú’s team was led by Sergio Barboza, with Juan Carlos Ramírez Malatesta and José Miguel Sáenz Velasco.
