Mexico’s SMPS Legal adds new partner

Mexican law firm SMPS Legal has announced the incorporation of Daniel del Rio as a partner in the corporate, mergers and acquisitions and transactional practice.

Daniel joins from law firm Basham, Ringe y Correa, where he was a partner for more than 30 years.

He has advised medium-sized and large companies focusing on M&As, compliance, international transactions, as well as business strategies.

He actively participates as a member of the board of directors of several companies, and is currently the treasurer of the International Bar Association, as well as secretary-treasurer of the Legal Practice Division.

He has been recognized by a number of prestigious legal publications for his work as a lawyer in M&A and corporate governance, and has authored several articles and chapters on M&A, e-commerce, as well as real estate, infrastructure, corporate governance and compliance.

Daniel has been involved in the restructuring of ProBono work in Mexico, actively promoting the participation of Mexican lawyers through the foundation Barra Mexicana, of which he has held the position of president.

He also actively participates in various foundations and non-profit associations.
