Mexico’s Mijares Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes promotes two partners

Mexican law firm Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes has announced the appointment of Luis Antonio Monroy and Rodrigo del Valle Prieto as partners in the tax and labor areas respectively.

The two new partners will assume their positions from July 1st, 2022, and bring the firm’s partner count to 23, with four counsel and a total of 117 professionals, the firm said in a statement.

“We are delighted to invite Luis and Rodrigo to this new stage of their professional life,” Pablo Mijares, one of the firm’s founding partners, said.

Luis Antonio Monroy has been part of the firm since 2004 and specializes in providing tax advice to national and multinational companies. He is involved in mergers and acquisitions, financings, capital markets and corporate restructurings, and has also advised clients on various industries in connection with the application of double taxation treaties and has represented them before the tax authorities in regulatory matters at the federal, state and local levels.

Recently, he has provided ongoing advice in connection with the application of labor and tax law reforms relating to outsourcing.

Luis studied a degree in public accounting and financial strategy at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and completed a master’s degree in international tax law at the International Tax Center Leiden in the Netherlands. He worked as an associate in the Houston office of Alvarez & Marsal, and has authored and co-authored several articles on tax matters in national and international publications, and is an active member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) Mexico Chapter.

Rodrigo del Valle has been part of the firm since 2016 and specializes in providing advice on a wide range of labor matters. He has represented and advised Mexican and foreign companies in various transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financings and corporate restructurings.

He has also actively participated in the design and implementation of executive compensation schemes, preventive strategies, collective conflict resolution and employee transfer processes, among others.

Rodrigo studied law at the Universidad Iberoamericana and advises clients involved in a wide range of industries, including some of the largest construction companies in Mexico, North American and European financial institutions, energy companies and investment funds. He has been actively involved in providing advice on the implementation of labor and tax law reforms relating to outsourcing.
