Marcela Berazain discusses the strategy and growth prospects of AssureSoft, an American full-service nearshore software application development company based in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Leaders League: What do you see as the main challenges of leading HR in a tech company?

Marcela Berazain: Leading HR at a company like AssureSoft brings with it a number of challenges that are both exciting and complex. Firstly, one of the main challenges is the pace of change in the sector. Technology is advancing at a dizzying pace, which means that skills and knowledge that were relevant just a few years ago may not be sufficient today.

This forces us to be constantly on the lookout for talent that not only possesses technical skills, but is also adaptable and agile. Moreover, in a highly competitive environment, talent retention becomes a priority. Tech companies often offer attractive benefits and career development opportunities, so we need to be creative in our value proposition to employees. This means not only offering competitive salaries, but also creating an enriching work environment that fosters personal and professional growth.

AssureSoft works in a highly competitive industry. How do you work to strengthen the company’s organizational structure?

At AssureSoft, we define our organizational culture as positive and people-centric. We strongly believe that a healthy and motivating work environment is key to success in such a competitive industry. To strengthen this culture, we invest heavily in various projects that address aspects of our employees' career development. We make sure to support team-growth by covering the costs of certifications, specialization courses and other related training. In addition, we have mentoring and leadership development programs whose focus is on boosting female participation in the tech sector. These efforts not only promote ongoing training, but also foster a sense of community and collaboration, which are fundamental to our culture.

In addition, we organize team-building activities that strengthen interpersonal relationships and foster a sense of belonging. We believe that a cohesive team is better able to meet market challenges and provide innovative solutions. In short, we work day in and day out to cultivate an environment where collaboration, innovation and diversity of thought are at the heart of our culture.

What initiatives have you implemented to foster an inclusive and diverse environment at AssureSoft?

In terms of inclusion and respect for diversity, at AssureSoft we promote an environment where all voices are heard and valued. We implement initiatives that ensure our selection and promotion processes are fair and equitable, celebrating diversity in all its forms. We believe that an inclusive culture not only enriches our organization, but also drives innovation and improves overall results. Each of these efforts is aligned with our mission to build a diverse and talented team that reflects the varied perspectives and experiences of our customers and communities.

One of our most prominent projects is AssureSoft Women, which aims to empower and boost female participation in leadership positions within the company. This program not only seeks to increase the level of representation of women in key roles, but also provides tools and resources for their professional development, including mentoring and specific training to foster their leadership skills. In addition, we have the Digital Academy, an innovative project dedicated to training and offering job opportunities to young Bolivian talent in the technology field.

Through this initiative, we select promising young people and provide them with practical and theoretical training that enables them to enter the labor market with confidence. We are proud to announce that this program will soon be extended to other Latin American countries, which will allow us to positively impact the region and eventually contribute to the development and promotion of human talent in all countries where AssureSoft is present.
