Generali launches “Agorai Innovation Hub” in Trieste

Generali has announced the launch of the Agorai Innovation Hub. The project was promoted in collaboration with the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Generali, Fincantieri and Fondazione Fincantieri, illycaffè, the University of Trieste, the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA), the University of Udine, MIB Trieste School of Management, and the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), with the participation of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP). Google Cloud, Deloitte, and Goldman Sachs are also involved.
The initiative aims to create a center for advanced research in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), integrating education, knowledge transfer, and startup development. With its future headquarters set to be located at Palazzo Carciotti in Trieste, the project intends to develop technologies that improve quality of life in areas such as health, agriculture, mobility, and finance. The Hub will operate through a foundation focused on basic research and a joint-stock company dedicated to applied solutions. The claim “Humanaize the Future” reflects the project’s ethical and sustainable approach, placing technology at the service of people and communities.
Bird & Bird advised Assicurazioni Generali with a team composed of Partner Giovanni Galimberti and Counsel Daniele De Angelis on intellectual property matters, while civil and corporate law matters were handled by Partner Giovanni Gazzaniga . Antitrust matters were overseen by Partner Federico Marini Balestra, and Partner Simone Cadeddu took care of administrative and regulatory issues.
On Assicurazioni Generali's side, legal aspects were coordinated by Stefania Bergamo (Head of Group Legal Affairs), who worked with Andrea Fassina (Head of Group Strategic Legal Affairs) and Natalia Catalano (Senior Counsel of Group Strategic Legal Affairs) on civil and corporate matters, and with Furio Curri (Head of Group General Legal Affairs) and Alberto Ces (Senior Counsel of Group General Legal Affairs) on intellectual property and antitrust matters.
