Garrigues renews Fernando Vives as executive chairman until 2032

The Partners’ Meeting of Garrigues has unanimously approved the early renewal of Fernando Vives as the firm’s executive chairman for a new six-year term, extending his mandate until June 2032. His current term was originally set to expire on 31 January 2028.
According to the firm, the decision reflects the partners’ view that continuity in leadership is the best strategic approach to prepare Garrigues for the challenges and opportunities facing the legal market in the coming years.
“For me, it is a great honour and a great responsibility that the partners have once again placed their trust in me in such a clear manner. I hope to contribute with all my effort to continue and consolidate the roadmap we have begun and to achieve the ambitious goals we have set for the coming years, so that the firm strengthens its ethical and professional leadership in all the markets where it operates. This work is not, and has never been, personal, but collective,” said Vives. This marks the sixth time the Partners’ Meeting has renewed his mandate.
Fernando Vives has served as executive chairman and managing partner of Garrigues since 2009. He holds a PhD in Law and degrees in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), and has more than 35 years of experience in business law, with a practice focused on capital markets, corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions.
He is a full member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain and has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit and the Cross of Honour of the Order of Saint Raymond of Peñafort.
Throughout his career, Fernando Vives has received numerous recognitions for his contribution to the legal profession and his leadership in the business law sector. In recent years, he has been distinguished as one of Spain’s leading lawyers and most reputable business leaders, reflecting his longstanding trajectory and influence within the legal market.
