Chilean law firm Jara del Favero has promoted Manuel Bernet Páez and Christian Schiessler Quililongo to partner-level positions.

The two new partners will further strengthen the dispute resolution and litigation, and capital markets areas, the firm said in a press release.

Manuel Bernet Páez has been with the firm for 16 years, “standing out for his leadership and professionalism in the commercial, corporate, antitrust, regulated markets and administrative litigation areas,” the firm said.

Manuel holds a law degree from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and two master's degrees in private law, one from the Madrid Bar Association and the other from the Universidad de Los Andes. He also holds a doctorate in law and is the director of the commercial and business law department at the same university.

Additionally, he is a professor of commercial law and unfair competition at the Universidad de Los Andes and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. He is the author of several scientific publications both in Chile and abroad and has been a legal advisor on copyright, industrial property and unfair competition matters.

"It is truly an honor to be a partner of Jara Del Favero, a place where I have developed throughout my professional life, and where I have the pleasure of sharing with great lawyers,” he said. “In this new stage, I will lead the litigation group to continue advising our clients with the recognized excellence of our firm, providing fast, efficient and creative solutions to the conflicts that arise in the business activity, always taking into consideration the best interests of our clients."

Prior to his promotion to partner, Manuel was the director of the dispute resolution and litigation area, participating in civil, commercial and administrative litigation, an area that was previously led by partner Manuel Jiménez Pfingsthorn, who recently passed away.

For his part, new partner Christian Schiessler Quililongo is highly recognized for his expertise in investment funds, the creation of foreign investment vehicles, private equity investments, financing, debt issuance and wealth management advisory services.

A lawyer graduated from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he holds a master's degree in business law from the same university and an LLM from Northwestern University in Chicago.

"I am very happy to assume this responsibility, with the aim of continuing to provide quality advice to our clients, to grow and strengthen the capital markets area and to support younger lawyers in their professional growth and development," Christian said.

Prior to his promotion to partner, Christian was head of the capital markets area, advising domestic and foreign clients on issues related to that portfolio.
