Brazil’s Suzano Papel e Celulose creates JV with Kimberly-Clark

Suzano Papel e Celulose, a Brazilian paper pulp production company, has entered into a joint venture with Kimberly-Clark, in connection with its global tissue business.

The joint venture will be the owner of Kimberly-Clark’s international tissue business, including approximately 9,000 employees and 22 manufacturing facilities.

The value of the investment behind the joint venture was not disclosed.

Colombian law firm Posse Herrera Ruiz advised Suzano Papel e Celulose on the Colombian aspects of the due diligence process for the structuring of the joint venture.

The law firm’s team advising the Brazilian company was led by partners Gabriel Sánchez and Jaime Herrera, with Nicolás Salazar, Carolina Castro and Gabriel Jaramillo.

Suzano Papel e Celulose was also advised by law firm Freshfields, with a team led by partner Rhys Evans, with Jordan Camilleri, Danyela Vander-Sande, Richard Ho, Enrique Dancausa, Christy Lee, Chatelle Nicholas and Bahawal Ali. 

Kimberly-Clark was counseled by Kirkland & Elli, with a team led by partner Kim Hicks, while the company was also advised by Baker McKenzie, whose team was led by partner Olivia Tyrrell.
