Twenty-seventeen was a successful year for Amazon with a 57% increase in its share capitalization to $563 billion. One of the main reasons for this increase the takeover of Whole Foods, an American organic brand, for $13.7 billion – Amazon’s biggest-ever acquisition. At the head of this empire: Jeff Bezos owns 16.4% of the company with $33.7 billion more than in 2016.
Bezos’ fortune has reached $99 billion according to the Bloomberg billionaires ranking. The Princeton's graduate, who formerly worked in a speculative fund, has now ousted Bill Gates ($91.8 billion) and businessman Warren Buffet ($85.3 billion) to become the richest man in the world.
