In line with its global expansion strategy, Eversheds Sutherland launched its fourth German office in Düsseldorf on 1st August 2017 after the combination with local firm Grooterhorst & Partners.
In the first place three partners will work at the Düsseldorf office, leading a team of 11 lawyers. Specializing in large-scale retail projects, Johannes Grooterhorst is a real estate expert with over 30 years’ experience. Marc Christian Schwencke, also a real estate lawyer, specializes in construction and planning law. Lastly, the focus of Ralf-Thomas Wittmann is insurance law and conflict management.
As a result, the office will initially focus on real estate and insurance, with plans to expand to full-service practice in the future.
According to Lee Ranson, co-CEO of the firm, Düsseldorf was chosen because of its important role as a corporate activity center and the industrial heartland of Germany.
This is the firm’s 63rd office worldwide, and its third major global merger in 2017. Earlier in February, legacy firms Eversheds and Sutherland combined to launch globally, which was followed by its merger with Harry Elias Partnership (HEP) to become Eversheds Harry Elias in Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, with effect from June.
