The Brazilian institution announced on October 2nd that Luiz Edgard Montaury Pimenta will be its President during 2018 and 2019.
The decision was made in a general meeting held on September 29th, with Maria Carmen Souza Brito, the current Head of ABPI, managers Ricardo Boclin, Rodrigo Ouro Preto and the general manager Erika Diniz.
Mr. Montaury Pimento has been a senior partner of the law firm Montaury Pimenta Machado & Vieira de Mello since 1990. He graduated from the Universidade Candido Mendes in 1982 and speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish. Apart from his occupation as a partner, he also has experience in academia, having worked as a professor of graduate courses in some of the most renowned universities in Brazil, such as Fundação Getúlio Vargas, where he taught in 1999 and 2000.
The current President of ABPI is Maria Carmen Brito, who took office in 2016. In an exclusive interview with Leaders League, she claimed that her goal was to bolster communication within ABPI. “We are working with the objective of giving to our members from across the national territory the possibility of greater participation in our meetings and debates. The objective is to reach out to our members outside Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo,” she stated.
Apart from the election of Mr. Mountaury Pimenta as President of ABPI, the institution also announced new names for other roles, including:
